The Early Learning Business Coach creates and facilitates a network of small business owners in the early learning industry, participating in a statewide, shared services business project. This position provides individual business coaching, assistance in business plan development and goal setting, and leads business trainings for early childhood educators. This position provides support to early learning programs in learning to use childcare management software, and builds relationships with the early learning community in order to grow participation in the shared services project. This position is a temporary duration role, lasting approximately 6 months.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Associate's degree in business, marketing, accounting, business management, adult education, early childhood
  education or related field OR the ability to obtain a Step 8 in the Oregon Registry within 6 months of hire.
• Two years of experience owning and operating a business, or experience successfully coaching/consulting for businesses/individuals focused on business practices.
• Two years of experience working in early childhood learning.
• Demonstrated experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into teaching and coaching methods.
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Driver qualifications are required for this position. Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous three years are required.
• Successful registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division.
• CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
• Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES

• Knowledge of business operations and administration.
• Ability to use equipment necessary to carry out job responsibilities such as, but not limited to, computer and virtual training software such as Zoom and PowerPoint, early childhood management software, Google Sheets, and more.
• Ability to communicate formally and informally with a wide range of contacts and demonstrate empathy, and friendliness in dealing with people under stressful conditions, either by phone, through video or in person.
• Demonstrated ability to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into teaching and coaching methods.
• Ability to create ongoing trusting relationships with early education programs to develop the most conducive environment for learning and reflection.
• Bilingual English-Spanish skills are required.
  • To qualify as bilingual, staff must pass a pre-employment bilingual exam demonstrating fluent speaking, reading, and writing in English and Spanish. Required bilingual staff will receive a pay differential based on language test results .

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

• With the assistance of the Oregon Child Care Alliance (OCCA) and Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R), this position recruits and supports the onboarding of family child care providers and small child care centers to participate in the OCCA and receive business resources and supports.
• Develops coaching relationships with selected early learning programs to help programs gain business acumen to enhance business practices, knowledge, and skills to manage their business.
• Utilizes previously developed trainings and resources to lead monthly network meetings on topics including, but not limited to: best business practices, recordkeeping, bookkeeping, business planning, marketing, developing parent handbooks, and budgeting.
• Implements effective techniques for adult learnings during provider trainings.
• Seeks out knowledge of local and state wide financial resources available to small businesses and guides early learning programs to these resources and through application processes.
• Collaborates with agency staff and other statewide business coaches to ensure strong support for local providers.
• Works as part of the Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) team to develop new services provided to shared services network participants.
• Collaborates with early learning programs and CCR&R team to ensure that contact logs, progress tracking, and data are current.
• Attends professional development trainings and events as appropriate.
• Collects and maintains data required for grant reporting.
• Complies with MWVCAA safety and personnel policies, including punctuality and attendance.

• Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet scheduling demands of early learning professionals.
