The Position: We are in search of an Engineer Journeyman or Engineering Technician to support P-8A Acoustics T&E and will provide knowledge and experience with acoustic sensor theory and practice. Supports developmental test and evaluation of acoustic systems for the P-8A Integrated Test Team. Applies engineering principles to research, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate systems. Reviews and prepares test plans, test reports, and other technical documentation. This position applies engineering experience to perform functions of Developmental Test & Evaluation.

Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $77,000 – $131,000 annually, based upon an individual's level of experience, skillset, and education. Description:

  • Support development, review, and/or updates of program management plans in accordance with Navy directives, budgets, implementation requirements, and program schedules.
  • Provide input to the processes, products, and policies for the conduct of experimentation, test, and
  • evaluation to support acquisition decisions.
  • Provide support for T&E planning, management, and work efforts in support of program office.
  • Foreign Military Sales (FMS) activities to include coordination of test activities, foreign comparative testing, and routing of all associated deliverables through the appropriate program offices.
  • Coordinate across all applicable NAWCAD Groups to ensure efficient and effective T&E execution.
  • Provide project management support to the T&E IPT members by drafting meeting minutes, managing action items, and performing overall coordination and close-out of T&E IPT meetings.
  • Participate in test planning and reporting, program technical reviews, deficiency reviews, system
  • verifications reviews, T&E IPT, NAVAIR Technical Assurance Board (NTAB), operational test readiness reviews or technical interchange meetings as directed.
  • Support developing and maintaining T&E Government Furnished Property (GFP), Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), and Government furnished information lists.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain test reports and documentation (e.g., deficiency reports, report of test reports, test reports, test plans and procedures).
  • Support the collection and maintenance of test and certification data. This includes test data, reliability data, and supportability data.
  • Support development, collection, tracking, and maintenance of metrics in accordance with program or Government guidance, or program specific policies, to communicate status of test planning, reporting, and execution.
  • Analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems to develop and implement solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns.
  • Support typical acoustics and non-acoustics test functions that include transmission of recorded or simulated sonobuoy channels; minimal discernable signal; minimal discernable level; acoustics mission replays; acoustics recording and replay; and signal processing and analysis.
  • Support instrumentation requirements and ensure test instrumentation meets test requirements, development of detailed documentation, design, and required operating procedures for instrumentation installation.

Education & Experience:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance. Top Secret preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Discipline, or related technical field.
  • Substitution: Significant, relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree

Experience:

  • Three years of experience performing similar tasks within field. Three years of NAVAIR/NAWCAD experience .
    • Other Desired Experience: Three years of experience assisting more senior positions performing functional duties of a similar position. A journeyman employee level person typically performs all functional duties independently.
  • Desired experience with Test and Evaluation, Naval or DoD Acquisition, and underwater acoustics. Former sensor/sonobuoy operator experience might be a nice fit. Ability to communicate, work within a team, work within a classified environment, and apply physical principles and engineering knowledge to assessment of a system under development.

Travel:

  • On some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site.
