Unit Description: This role is primarily focused on inpatient care within the 1E Surge/Overflow unit. Nurses will care for patients who are either on observation status or admitted and holding in overflow areas. The unit is strategically located next to the Emergency Department (ED) and can accommodate up to 4 patients from the ED (ED Holds). Nurses in this role must be proficient in reading EKGs and are expected to float to various units as needed to provide care for admitted patients. The entire hospital is equipped for telemetry monitoring.

Experience and Requirements:

• Position: Med Surg/Tele/Stepdown RN
\t
• Responsibilities: Care for hold patients in the ED or inpatient units. All patients will be on observation or inpatient status while holding in the ED or on an inpatient unit.
\t
• Flexibility: Nurses will float among different areas within the facility based on hospital census.
\t
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
\t
• Contract Length: Varies
\t
• Specialty: Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
\t
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Sunday to Saturday; must be available on weekends.
\t
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday.
\t
• RTO (Request Time Off): No more than 3 days.
\t
• License: NJ or compact state license required.
\t
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, Stroke CEUs, PCU or Critical Care course.
\t
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
\t
• Charting System: Cerner

Float Requirements:

\t
• Must be willing to float to different units as needed.

First Day Instructions? /Orientation:

Failure to complete the full orientation will result in immediate termination- once scheduled, candidate does not have the option of rescheduling any classes.

Candidate will receive an email directly from client the Friday before the Monday start. The email will contain the following information;

1. They will receive instructions for signing on to the Virtual Welcome meeting and online Health Stream Module from Human Resources sometime prior to 8:30 on Monday. Monday GEO will be Virtual from their own computer. The modules assigned must be completed by Monday or they will be removed from the orientation list.
\t
2. In person class schedule list - Typically Tues-Thurs- these classes are held in multiple locations. The location may not be listed in the original email, candidate is required to use Health Stream to determine class location day of. Please Note *The POCT class will required to attend and is not during orientation week.
\t
3. Unit based orientation schedule from manager.
\t
4. Badge ID Link - instructions on how to make an appointment t o receive their ID badge in person. Photo submissions are not permitted. Must be complete during orientation. The Badge is required for clock ins.
